The 2023 English National Opera production of Bizet's Carmen featured a revival of Calixto Bieito's production, directed by Jamie Manton, with a cast including Ginger Costa-Jackson as Carmen and Sean Panikkar as Don José.
I thoroughly enjoyed choreographing fights and intimate scenes on this revival, and especially enjoyed working with Jamie Manton and Sean Panikkar again.
As it was a revival of the 2020 version with a lot of the same cast, we used very similar staging and choreography with some small improvements based on the previous show.
